As our Indigenous & Diversity Mentor you will support, empower, and coach our apprentices and trainees who identify as a member of a minority group, including (but not limited to) indigenous status and women working in non-traditional trades. As a people‑person, you will build and leverage strong relationships to maximise successful outcomes, including providing one on one coaching to empower and challenge our apprentices and trainees to successfully complete their placement and qualification. Joining the supportive state‑wide network of Zeal Futures staff, you will: Mentor and support a caseload of apprentices and trainees facing barriers to employment and training, walking alongside them to provide culturally safe guidance. Run peer group sessions and initiatives to build confidence, strengthen identity, and achieve their goals, championing the Zeal Futures Diversity and Inclusion strategy and programs. Share knowledge, promote understanding, and contribute to initiatives or programs that support reconciliation and belonging across Zeal Futures and with Host Employers. Work collaboratively with our leaders and Host Employers to ensure an inclusive and respectful work environment, and an outstanding employment experience for our apprentices and trainees Assist in identifying barriers to inclusion and contribute to strategies for positive change. Promote the Group Training concept and the services of Zeal Futures with a view to creating further employment and training opportunities for those facing barriers to employment. This fast‑paced role that involves travel across NSW as you build meaningful, purpose‑driven relationships with our apprentices and trainees. What you’ll bring to the table To be successful in this role, you must be a people person who does not mind striking up a conversation. You are warm, empathetic, and pragmatic, striving to achieve the best outcome for our apprentices and trainees. To be successful in this role, you will: Have a passion for coaching and guiding, having previous experience as a successful mentor. Be able to build strong relationships that stand the test of time. Be adept at meeting and managing expectations of multiple stakeholders across a range of communities. Hold a formal qualification and/or relevant equivalent experience.
