In this vital role, the McGrath Clinical Nurse Consultant (MCCN) will deliver expert care, information, and support to individuals affected by cancer. The MCCN works collaboratively across the continuum of care and within multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients and their families receive compassionate, coordinated support. The MCCN provides person-centred clinical and supportive care, facilitating seamless communication across cancer services in alignment with the McGrath Model of Care. This role requires advanced knowledge and expertise in cancer care, including comprehensive health assessments, navigation of treatment pathways and referrals, and ongoing facilitation of clinical and supportive care tailored to individual needs. What You'll Be Doing The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in Oncology, Palliative Care or Cancer Stream specific Nursing. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in Nursing – Oncology and/or Palliative Care. Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, initiate and manage complex cases at an advanced level. Demonstrated understanding of the physical, and psychological needs of patients with cancer, including metastatic disease and their common treatment regimens. Proven ability to implement change and develop direction in clinical practice using evidence‑based research and best practice principles. Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide information and education effectively to patients, families, and carers. Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills and the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently as a part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated excellent collaborative, leadership, and teaching skills. Experience in the development, implementation and review of policy, procedure, and guidelines. Need more information?
