Specialist Medical Receptionist

We are a well established specialist medical practice providing high quality, patient centred care in a professional and supportive environment. Our friendly team takes pride in delivering exceptional service to patients, referrers and clinicians. We are now seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our busy practice. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced specialist environment, values accuracy, and enjoys providing a high level of service to both patients and doctors. The role is 9 days per fortnight. Key Responsibilities Provide professional front desk and telephone reception for patients, doctors and referrers Manage appointment scheduling, recalls and waiting lists Process payments, Medicare and health fund claims and reconcile daily accounts Maintain accurate and confidential patient records Liaise with hospitals referring doctors, and other healthcare providers Assist in clinical and administrative coordination for patient care Support practice efficiency through proactive workflow and task management. Skills and Experience Minimum 2 years' experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar administrative healthcare role in a multi-doctor practice Proficiency in Genie or similar medical software Sound understanding of Medicare and private billing procedures Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task under pressure Professional presentation and compassionate manner Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Flexibility to occasionally start early or finish late as required by the practice schedule Availability for full time hours to cover sick or holiday relief What We Offer A supportive, friendly and respectful workplace culture Opportunities for skill development and training Competitive remuneration based on experience Stable, long term employment within a reputable specialist practice About Us Hunter Gastroenterology is a leading provider of specialist gastroenterology services in the Broadmeadow and greater Newcastle/Hunter Region area.
