Recovery Support Worker

If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in helping others feel more confident and capable, you’ll love what this role is all about. As a Recovery Support Worker, it’s all about supporting people on their wellness journey, where no two days are the same. Some days you’ll help with medication, daily routines, other days you’ll be running a small group activity or helping someone plan their next steps. You’ll support consumers in building confidence and skills for independence — skills such as cooking, budgeting, or making everyday decisions that foster confidence and independence. You’ll also keep clear notes and follow policies and procedures, so everyone’s support stays consistent and safe. This role suits someone who’s patient, calm under pressure, and can think on their feet. You’re the kind of person who sees potential in people and brings out the best in them, someone who is caring, compassionate, and not afraid to try new ideas to help others grow. A day on the job will see you: Develop and review individual support plans that are recovery-focused and trauma-informed. Work collaboratively with clients to set goals, celebrate progress, and build confidence. Support clients to develop practical skills for independent living, community participation, personal choice and decision-making, managing accommodation, and enhancing overall wellbeing. Assist with medication management using a respectful, adult-to-adult approach. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and client documentation. Facilitate group programs and activities that promote connection and recovery. Your application will stand out to us if you have: Have a minimum of a Cert III in Mental Health or Community Services, or you could be studying Psychology or Social Work and have completed a relevant placement. Bring previous experience in mental health or community services, so you can hit the ground running. Understand recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and wellness-based approaches. Communicate clearly and work collaboratively to find solutions. Have experience supporting people with diverse and unique needs. What’s in it for you? Pay: Competitive salary, plus NFP salary packaging giving you the potential to gain $15,900 in tax benefits. Leave: 28 days annual leave, that’s 3 days more than the standard 4 weeks (pro-rata based on part-time hours) Perks: Social activities and be part of the journey of the people we exist to support Hours: 22.8 hours per week. Tuesday, 7.00 am-3.00 pm, Wednesday & Thursday; 2.30pm – 10.30pm with a required weekly sleepover shift Career development: Training, accessible leaders, growth and advancement opportunities Culture: Exceptional workplace culture – we work hard and have fun while we do it About Us For 60 years, St Bart’s has supported people experiencing homelessness and severe and persistent mental health issues as they rebuild their lives.
