Our Purpose: Grow Townsville Our Values: Safety, Excellence, Respect, Value, Enjoyment About The Role This position will implement systems-based environmental innovations; integrated sustainability technologies; authentic sustainability practices and develop sustainability-focused business cases, case studies and metrics. Working across all areas of sustainability, living soil, water, wildlife, vegetation/fire management, and eco-efficiency (water, energy, waste, transport, people, and biodiversity) and across the urban, peri-urban, and rural environments of Townsville. This position also works collaboratively across the organisation with different departments and as a part of various projects teams and working groups. About You The ideal candidate is a dynamic, empathic, collaborative and forward-thinking environment/sustainability professional with a strong foundation in sustainable resource management and a proven track record of delivering impactful, on-ground sustainability outcomes. They possess exceptional project coordination skills and thrive in multidisciplinary settings, working collaboratively with engineers, IT technicians, planners, community development, and government agencies to tackle complex sustainability challenges. With knowledge of systems-based thinking, natural systems management and/or sustainability, they bring insight into implementing locally relevant sustainability action, environmental data integration, catchments and coastal systems. Technologically adept, they leverage advanced modelling and analytical tools to inform decision‑making and demonstrate leadership in fostering a system-based approach to sustainability.
