IASAQ was founded in 2007 in Brisbane and is dedicated to providing support, care, and assistance to the Irish Australian community in Queensland. Open to individuals of all backgrounds, faiths, and traditions, IASAQ fosters a sense of connection and cultural heritage through events, personal and welfare services, elderly assistance, mental health care, and more. IASAQ promotes cultural activities and offers practical services such as passport applications and housing support, striving to build relationships and provide a friendly, welcoming environment for the community. Role Description This is a volunteer remote role for a Board Member at IASAQ. Board Members will be responsible for contributing to strategic decision‑making, attending board meetings, and providing oversight for governance and compliance. Additional tasks may include supporting community outreach, fundraising efforts, event organisation, and actively representing IASAQ’s mission to external parties. Board Members will also collaborate with other members and staff to carry forward initiatives that support the Irish Australian community in Queensland. Qualifications Strong governance, leadership, and strategic planning skills to guide organisational development. Experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and building relationships within diverse communities. Proficiency in event planning, fundraising, or public relations to further the mission of IASAQ. Knowledge of cultural diversity, community services, or support systems, particularly within the Irish Australian diaspora, is an advantage. Commitment to IASAQ’s values, with excellent communication and teamwork skills. Previous experience in volunteering, non‑profit services, or board memberships is highly desirable.
