Elite Development Program Head Coach

In collaboration with Rohrig, the Rohrig Elite Development Program (EDP) has provided a pivotal role in the clubs ongoing success since it's inception in 2013. This exciting opportunity gives the Head Coach the ability to play an important role in developing the clubs up and coming Elite Standard Players to play Premier Rugby and beyond within 1-3 years. 

General Description

The Head Coach - Elite Development Program (EDP) reports to the EDP High-Performance Manager (HPM) and Brothers Rugby Club, Director of Rugby and leads the EDP rugby program. The direct responsibilities and duties include, player recruitment and retention, Player Development, High Performance Rugby Programming, Coaching, forming positive relationships and upholding The Brothers Way.

Responsibilities

Player Development

  • Establish and deliver individual player development strategies that includes assessment, reviews and actions plans.
  • Liaise with specific Brothers Coaches of all players to ensure consistency of player development strategies and feedback through addressing common needs of the club as well as individual player performance parameters.
  • Provide video analysis and feedback to players to ensure their growth and development.
  • Ensure alignment of club performance goals and strategies.

Rugby Programming

  • Develop a consistent philosophy and training methodology specific to the program format and participating players.
  • In collaboration with the EDP HP Manager and BRC Rugby Manager, ensure the planning of an annual periodised program including the EDP selection camp and performance camp.
  • Ensure the planning of specific weekly sessions.
  • Liaise with the High-Performance Manager (EDP) to plan and implement specialist sessions focused on Position Specific Development.
  • In conjunction with the EDP HPM, ensure off field player development is planned and achieved to ensure a holistic rugby development model. i.e human development seminars or workshops.

Coaching

  • Lead and be competent in the technical and tactical aspects of the game specific to the EDP program and players.
  • Drive a culture of high-performance and excellence.
  • Provide organised and detailed feedback to players within training sessions and pre/post training.

Relationships

  • Form strong and positive relationships with the following stakeholders:
  • EDP Staff, Brothers Coaching Staff, EDP Players, Brothers Rugby Club playing members and Schools Rugby communities.
  • Attend schoolboys rugby games where possible to develop relationships with players, directors and parents for High Performing player recruitment.
  • Develop a specific network or utilise existing network that can be used to strengthen and grow the program.
  • Assist with the talent identification and recruitment of players.
