Job Description

At Scalable Capital, we are excited to expand our Data Department with several new ML Engineering roles in our growing Data Science team. Depending on the candidate's background, this position can either focus more on the infrastructure aspect (e.g., MLOps) or bridge the gap between software development and Machine Learning. Regardless, in this newly established work stream, you will have the exceptional opportunity to lay the foundation and set the right direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess, implement, and maintain AI / ML technologies for internal and potential future client services, following best software engineering practices
  • Lead the development of suitable architectures for implementing and sustaining scalable ML/AI solutions
  • Construct infrastructure components, CI/CD pipelines, configure, extend, and maintain our current ML services on AWS
  • Evaluate retrieval methods, language models, and generative AI approaches while focusing on practical solutions
  • Establish automated testing and monitoring methods to ensure AI systems' accuracy and reliability
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to ensure successful integration of AI systems into business operations
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies to keep our solutions innovative

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, IT, or a related field
  • A broad mindset for continuous learning and flexibility to switch between different technical domains like Backend, Frontend, AI/ML Infrastructure
  • Extensive experience in AI/ML technologies and software development, especially Python
  • Skills in building frontends (e.g., would be advantageous)
  • Experience with dockerization, cloud platforms, particularly AWS (ECS, Lambdas, API Gateway,...), and related ML/AI services like AWS Bedrock, Sagemaker
  • Familiarity with creating CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and version control techniques
  • Proficiency in modern ML libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, Transformers, Langchain, LlamaIndex
  • Solid understanding of chains, routing, agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and vector databases for managing data sources
  • Knowledge of MLOps practices, understanding the ML model lifecycle, and performance monitoring even in LLM use cases
  • Hands-on experience in model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and risk management, including production environments
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., terraform)
  • Interest in financial services and markets considered a bonus
  • Strong project management, organizational, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude

For applicants in Austria: Due to local regulations, the minimum salary for this position is based on the collective agreement for information and consulting employees. Depending on qualifications and experience, higher compensation is possible.
