The Children Youth and Families (CYF) Division currently has a vacancy for a Suitability Information Manager to join the team. The Suitability Information Manager is focused on ensuring CYF's compliance with the consideration of matters associated with carer approvals. The role is primarily responsible for identifying, collating and preparing assessments relating to child protection and other information consistent with Section 65 of the Children and Young People Act 2008 for the purposes of carer assessments and approvals.
The role will also monitor compliance with carer authorisations and Working with Vulnerable People registration and exemptions. The role will be required to work closely with CYF staff and out of home care agencies to provide timely information on carer suitability to enable effective placement decisions. The role will also support CYF to improve and strengthen policy and practice relating to carer assessments and approvals to meet our statutory obligation.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in working with client management systems, customer service and record keeping is essential for this role.
- This position requires a Working with Vulnerable People Check. Prior to commencing in this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 will be required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable people registrations, refer to Access Canberra.
- Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Experience and/or a desire to work in a community services environment is essential.
- The successful candidate will work in accordance with and uphold the ACT Public Service Values and Signature Behaviours, ACT Government’s Respect, Equity and Diversity Framework and the Directorate’s Work Health and Safety System.
Notes: This is a temporary position available for six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
