The Pharmacy Guild of Australia is a national employers’ organisation with over 90 years of experience in representing and promoting the value of the role of community pharmacy in the Australian health care system. Community pharmacies are a vital part of the national primary healthcare system with the potential to make an even bigger contribution to the health of all Australians. The Guild is committed to supporting and maintaining the community pharmacy model as the most appropriate and efficient system of delivering medicines, medication management and related services to the Australian public. The Pharmacy Guild represents over 6,000 community pharmacies and is dedicated to advancing the profession through advocacy, policy and governance. In keeping with the Guilds’ strategy, an exciting opportunity presents for an experienced individual to lead the Communications and Marketing team in Canberra.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for leading the communications, public relations, marketing and events team in the national office in Canberra, and in developing and successfully delivering the strategy in line with strategic priorities. Key to the role will be effectively positioning the Pharmacy Guild and Community Pharmacy and in enhancing the brand via campaigns, media and events. As the General Manager Communications and Marketing, you will represent the Pharmacy Guild at industry forums and will be a key liaison with a variety of stakeholders including media, consultants, public relations groups, agencies, relevant government stakeholders and the community. You will develop relevant communication strategies with the Government Relations and Advocacy team and deliver marketing and communications plans / activities in pursuit of Guild activities. Leading, guiding and mentoring staff will be important to your success.
Tertiary qualified in Business, Marketing, Communications, Media, or relevant disciplines (ideally with post Tertiary qualifications), you will ideally have gained experience leading a communications / marketing function in a member-based organisation, consulting firm, agency, healthcare organistion and / or relevant public sector department. You will have a track record in successfully delivering for stakeholder groups / members and in delivering strategies to effectively grow market share and enhance brands. You will be a strong leader with outstanding communication skills and an ability to delegate effectively to maximize potential.
