Overview:
Waves of Wellness (WOW) Foundation is a for-purpose mental health charity committed to changing lives through innovative therapy programs for people experiencing mental ill-health. Since its inception in 2016, WOW has expanded programs to 10 locations, in 4 states around Australia, working directly with over 4,800 people over 8 years. Facilitated by mental health clinicians who double as surfing instructors, these programs facilitate functional recovery, inclusion, social connection and enhanced quality of life. The program uses the ocean and surfing as a conduit to explore, stimulate and facilitate mental health literacy outcomes.
At WOW we’re seeking a passionate and enthusiastic CEO who thrives on leading a team of changemakers to take WOW to the next level.
The Role:
As WOW’s CEO, you’ll be responsible for leading and supporting the organisation across all functions. This is a dynamic and hands-on role, not just managing day-to-day operations, but working alongside a team of highly passionate people and inspiring them to change the way mental health is managed in Australia and around the world.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy and Vision:
- Working with the board to create the future strategy of WOW.
- Leading the business to execute and fulfil the determined strategy.
- Solidifying WOW’s strategic opportunities beyond surf therapy.
- Drive commercial support opportunities for WOW by building and nurturing relationships with organisations, individuals and other stakeholders.
- Full P&L management of the organisation, and managing accounting practices.
Program Management:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that align with WOW's mission and goals.
Board Relations:
- Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop and implement policies, procedures, and governance practices that support WOW's mission, goals and strategic direction.
Staff Management:
- Hire, train, and manage a high performing team, providing mentorship, support, and professional development opportunities.
Communications and Public Relations:
- Serve as WOW's spokesperson and build strong relationships with the media, government officials, and community stakeholders.
Skills and Experience:
We are open to a range of backgrounds and experiences for this role. Most importantly we are looking for someone who has a passion for changing the face of mental health in Australia and beyond, creatively reviewing how surf and adventure therapy can change the way mental health is treated.
You will have experience leading an organisation through a period of growth and be comfortable being the face of the business. A degree in a relevant field would be beneficial but not mandatory.
