The Portfolio Strategy and Services Group (PSSG) is committed to providing proactive advice and services to deliver quality corporate governance and technology outcomes, promote best practice legal advice, human resources, and financial management. Until 30 June 2024, the Transformation Taskforce is also another key component of PSSG. The Taskforce has played a critical role provides a focused response to enhance the department's structure, systems, and processes.

The Job
As Executive Officer, you provide high level support to the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Secretary PSSG (the COO) on a range of sensitive and complex issues impacting the operations of the Department. You will also work closely with colleagues and various stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of outcomes and provide high quality, strategic support and advice to the COO.
This will involve:
- Providing expert advice on key issues facing the Group and anticipating issues and the needs of the COO.
- Collaborating with core corporate services (HR, Finance, Property, Legal and Communications and Governance) to manage the functions of the COO's office.
- Building collaborative relationships with the senior officials, and the Executive Officer network across the Department to deliver key outcomes for Government.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Providing high level authoritative advice, analysis, and options to the COO on a range of policy and management issues that is comprehensive, accurate and timely.
- Identifying and analysing critical and emergent issues and provide strategic advice and high-level support to the COO on a range of sensitive and complex issues impacting the operations of the Department.
- Managing discrete projects aligned with the Group's business outcomes and corporate goals.
- Preparing strategic briefings ahead of key meetings and oversee preparation of reports and advice of a complex nature.
- Directing and facilitating strategic feedback to senior officials on the quality and effectiveness of briefing notes, priorities, and communications.
- Working with the Executive Assistant and key stakeholders to ensure emerging issues are identified, and requests are actioned in a proactive and coordinated way, to deadlines and quality standards, liaise with key stakeholders and action requests to coordinate communication and proactively ensure responses meet deadlines.
- Leading and contributing to projects to support the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.
