The Head Of Editorial - Social at Hello Social is responsible for leading our native editorial newsroom team, editorial value proposition and associated processes as well as providing leadership to the broader Social team about best-in-class social content.

Working hand-in-hand with our team of Social Media Account Specialists, the Head Of Editorial - Social will lead the editorial newsroom team in producing regular, fast-turn-around social content at varying levels across our client base… From reactive memes that capitalise cultural moments - to relatable creator-led videos.

We’re looking for a web-native with unmatched editorial flair and extensive experience managing fast turn-around social programs for a variety of brands. Your work will challenge the current standard and help our clients push boundaries in their social content programs.

This is an opportunity to truly shape the role the editorial function plays in social with clients who believe editorial is the future of marketing.

SPECIFIC CONTEXT OF YOUR ROLE:

The nature of Hello Social’s business requires a high level of flexibility and versatility. While the specific content of your role is clearly defined, the nature of the demands placed on us by our clients means that this role will evolve over time.

You’ll also be invited to play an active role in broader all agency pitches that may stem beyond editorial content.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the editorial content stream for our clients’ brands, defining both their creative and strategic direction.
  • Help drive and create content and ideas for our client’s success daily.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trending, cultural or community trends - regularly feeding this information to the broader social team.
  • Build, operationalise and regularly re-iterate team processes that work to deliver agenda-setting, editorial content daily.
  • Develop strong strategic relationships with senior clients, then leverage this relationship and industry expertise to have a maximum impact on clients’ business
  • Manage a team of editors/creators, to deliver against a client’s editorial and strategic plan to brief and timeline.
  • Provide thought leadership and set the agenda on social and editorial excellence and best practice
  • Maintain editorial integrity, quality and effectiveness for Hello Social’s clients
  • Actively participate in and contribute to success in new business pitches
  • Coach and guide editorial team members providing support & direction
  • Work collaboratively to develop platform-neutral, aligned always on

EDITORIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Content specialist with extensive editorial content and social experience for brands.
  • At least 8 years of experience in an editorial or agency environment with an ‘audience-first approach’ to creating content
  • Excellent presentation skills: articulate, passionate, authoritative, charming, capable of instilling confidence.
  • A significant experience at equivalent senior-level in-house or agency-side
  • Proven ability to work quickly and effectively across all platforms, web and social
  • Proven flair for ideas and creating agenda-setting content
  • Demonstrable experience turning insight into content and measuring the impact of your work
  • Strong operational capability with a track record of regularly building, maintaining and iterating editorial and content rhythms.
  • An understanding and appreciation of working with strategy, creative and insight departments
  • A keen interest in social media and appreciation of the rapidly changing social landscape
  • Knowledge of social media marketing and how to orchestrate the relationships between owned, earned and paid media
  • An understanding of how editorial-led culture programs can drive specific marketing and business objectives
