The Role:
This newly created Chief Operations Officer role will work across the organisation, with a key focus on improving the customer experience, streamlining back-office operations, and increasing revenue generation by leading growth in Membership and Events.
Reporting to the CEO, the COO will work with six state General Managers to streamline and optimise day-to-day membership and events operations and contribute to a vision for the medium- and long-term strategic direction of the organisation. This executive role will lead the vision and values, create a learning culture, motivate the team, take both a hands-on and strategic approach to operations, grow new partnerships, manage multiple stakeholders, and oversee financials.
In this hands-on role, the COO will also have oversight of office management, IT, Finance, and HR, and as chief commercial executive, have operational ownership of corporate sponsorships, event partnerships etc including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
The COO will provide key advice to the CEO to support decision-making in areas of operations, employment and industrial relations, HR and legal compliance, cost management, and strategic financial planning.
Another key aspect of this broad role is driving operational planning and reporting, including the preparation of business plans, annual budgets, and associated documents, in conjunction with the state GMs and the National Finance Director.
We are looking for:
- High-level organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred.
- Demonstration of advanced business planning and understanding of NFP regulatory requirements.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement with government, industry, and service providers.
- Management experience of financial and business affairs of an organisation with a high public profile.
- Proven success in relationship-management/stakeholder engagement.
- Exceptional networks in the corporate sector and government.
- Active engagement with a high-profile board and councils of governors.
