THE ROLE

We are looking for a Head of DevSecOps to play a crucial role in managing the automation and streamlining our software development lifecycle, from coding and deployment to maintenance and updates.

We have a hybrid working environment so require this person to be based in Sydney, NSW. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Streamline and optimise deployment pipelines ensuring swift and reliable software deployments. 
  • Integrate security measures throughout the development life cycle, ensuring the promotion of secure code into the operational environment.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring and automation strategies to minimise system downtimes, enhance stability, and provide observability for effective troubleshooting and reliability.
  • Foster a collaborative culture between development and operations teams, promoting efficiency, communication, and shared responsibility for delivering high-quality software products with a focus on security and operational observability.
  • Implement and oversee continuous security measures, keeping the operational environment secure and resilient against potential threats.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication.
  • Take a proactive role in incident response, leading troubleshooting efforts to maintain system reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Evaluate, implement, and manage tools that enhance the efficiency of development and operational processes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on DevOps best practices, ensuring a shared understanding of processes and goals across the organisation.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a DevOps leadership role
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation purposes.
  • Extensive experience with containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure AKS, Amazon EKS, etc).
  • In-depth knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and relevant tools (e.g., Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, etc).
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and promoting secure coding practices.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Expertise in implementing and managing monitoring solutions (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, Promethius, etc) for system observability.
  • Experience with log management tools and practices (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, Sumo Logic, etc).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration between development and operations teams.
  • Proven ability to lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution of DevOps initiatives.
  • Relevant certifications such as certifications from vendors such as AWS, Red Hat, Microsoft, etc.
