The role
The Governance and Business Improvement team provides strategic advice and high-level direct support to the Social and Affordable Housing Growth Deputy Director-General and broader executive team on governance, assurance and business improvement matters. You will lead and contribute to activities that provide sound and effective governance and business support, including:
- provision of advice and analysis in relation to the division's financial management and governance, and issues that impact on the division's performance.
- delivery and/or coordination of divisional business improvement initiatives and projects,
- support and secretariat functions for cross-agencies and external boards and panels.

What you will be doing
• Lead and manage governance and business support projects of a complex/sensitive nature, requiring planning, research, analysis and facilitation/delivery.
• Undertake continuous improvement initiatives and analysis designed to monitor divisional financial performance and governance.
• Provide independent analytical reviews, forecasts and advice regarding divisional budgetary and financial issues and needs, including preparation of budget forecasts and expenditure reconciliations.
• Assist in the management of other business support activities, including risk and operational workforce management.
• Coordinate, lead and participate in the management of complex governance functions, in collaboration with other business areas and senior officers across the department and other agencies.
• Prepare complex reports, submissions, briefs, and correspondence in relation to governance and business performance functions.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality in managing all knowledge and information relating to the unit's work.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.

What we are looking for
• Proven experience in working effectively without supervision to lead complex projects, responding flexibly to change, and completing tasks whilst managing conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in providing advice on business assurance matters, especially financial and risk analysis and management.
• Demonstrated personal responsibility in meeting objectives and committing to action, including ability to proactively recognise and resolve issues, and find innovative solutions to problems as they emerge.
• Proven written and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, build and maintain productive relationships, communicate, negotiate, influence and consult with internal and external stakeholders, and write high quality briefs and reports.
