Operational Risk Analyst - Corporate Banking

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Operational Risk Manager/Analyst’s responsibilities include strengthening policy implementation, updating procedures and policies. He/she is responsible for gathering information, analysing operational risk performance, directing and assisting operational profile reviews, identifying possible risks and providing analysis as well as recommendations for operational risk improvements. The Operational Risk Analyst will also maintain risk events databases, and provide or assist with risk mitigation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities may include additional specific tasks, projects or related activities within the scope of the employee’s level of competence, experience, knowledge and qualifications.
Procedure and Policy Implementation and Improvement
- Strengthen the implantation of operational risk management policy and procedure including RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment)
- Assist with updating and improving operational risk management procedures and policies to fulfil with regulatory requirements and to improve the Bank’s internal operation.
Review of the Bank’s Operational Risk Profile and Coordination of RCSA
- Arrange and assist with the regular review of the Bank’s operational risk register
- Review and manage the Bank’s operational risk register
- Coordinate and manage the Bank’s RCSA exercise
- Perform independent review and compliance inspection of RCSA
- Monitor the implementation of action and control plans from operational risk event and KRIs
Management of Operational Risk Events
- Coordinate, aggregate and analyse operational risk events reported by business unit, assist with control implementation, action plans and risk mitigation
- Work with Head of Risk Management Department and CRO to determine operational risk level and reporting
- Manage the Bank’s Operational Risk Event databases
- Reporting of the Bank’s operational risk events to the relevant counterparties or group
Reporting Obligation
- Prepare operational risk management report for the Bank’s Risk Management Committee and Head Office on a regular basis or as required
- Perform ongoing monitoring on Key Operational Risk indicators.
Business Continuity Management (BCM)
- Prepare and review Business Continuity Management policies and framework documents
- Develop, maintain and implement business continuity plans, disaster recovery strategies and solutions
- Coordinate the Bank’s BCM program and related activities including but not limited to business impact analysis, BCP drill test, crisis and emergency management
- Prepare BCP drill test report and conduct business continuity risk assessments
Organise regular Operational Risk Training and Other Ad-hoc Duties
- Assist arranging regular operational risk training and encourage risk culture
- Work on ad hoc projects as assigned by CRO and Head of RMD on Operational Risk related matters to improve the Bank’s operational risk management quality
- Provide other ad hoc administrative support to the Risk Management team’s daily operations
- Support the preparation of regulators and audit inspections
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience (3+ years) within operational risk management, other risk disciplines, or audit, preferably gained within a financial markets or institutional banking environment
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, accounting or other discipline
- Strong understanding of Australian Prudential requirements, banking environment and products and possesses the commercial experience and analytical mindset to make sound recommendations on operational risk issues
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese
- Excellent writing, communication and influencing skills
- Effective time management and good organisational skills
- An ability to communicate complex messages to a broad range of business stakeholders
