At the Institute of Roman Law and Antique Legal history (Univ.Prof. Dr. Franz-Stefan Meissel) there is a vacancy of a research assistant post (30 hours/week) to be filled with a Law Graduate (Pre-Doctoral Stage). The position is time-limited for four years. **Your personal sphere of influence**:
As a university assistant prae doc, you will be part of the research team around Prof. Franz-Stefan Meissel and take over teaching and research tasks in the areas of Roman Law, History of Private Law, Comparative Law and current Private Law. Our Team Meissel currently consists of 1,5 post docs, 2 prae docs, student assistants and administrative colleagues. What is particularly important to us is to strive for top quality scholarship and passionate teaching.
**Your future tasks**:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies.
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You work on your dissertation and its completion.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
- Participation in publication projects and scientific articles
- Lecturing activities
**This is part of your personality**:
- Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field Law/Legal Studies
- Basic experience in academic writing and with research methods
- Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
- IT user skills
- Desirable : independant scientific activities in the area of Roman Law, Private Law, Comparative Private Law, History of Private Law.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and LatinKnowledge of university processes and structures
- You should be a team player with high social skills
- Experience abroad
- Working experience at the Institute
**What we offer**:
The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to **4 years** if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
