Information Systems Assistant

This position is located in the Global Technical Team (GTT) of the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM), Vienna. The incumbent reports to the Computational Linguist in the QA/DevOpsTeam.
**Responsibilities**:
Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Provides support for QA and related services and help to expand and improve the effectiveness of these services.
- Creates, executes, automates, and manages test cases and test plans for existing and developed systems;
- Drafts correspondence and communications, and as well as prepares team contributions for a variety of periodic reports.
- Serves as focal point for development teams when communicating with Quality Assurance Team members, involving extensive liaison with diverse team members organizational units to initiate requests; prepares standard terms of reference; processes and follows-up on administrative actions and resolves issues related to project implementation, e.g. organization of and participation in training, procurement of equipment and services, etc.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the field; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions.
- Provides guidance to new/junior staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Job - Specific Qualification
International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Foundation certification is required.
Work Experience
Seven years of experience in information systems quality assurance, analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development or related area is required.
A minimum of five years of experience with managing and developing UI test automation with Selenium using C#/.NET with Software Configuration Management and integrating testing and clearance processes with build tools such as Team Foundation Server or Azure DevOps Services is required.
Experience with testing software for Prince2 or Agile based projects is desirable.
Experience with writing test cases using Gherkin syntax is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
