**Your personal sphere of influence**:
A PhD position for a university assistant (prae doc) is available at the Department of Functional Materials and Catalysis at the Faculty of Chemistry.
The group of Prof. Freddy Kleitz at the University of Vienna mainly focusses mainly on designing novel solid-state catalysts, sorbents and nanocarriers. The focus of the planned research is on designing methods for recovery and recycling critical materials from spent heterogeneous catalysts, especially in the context of electrochemical storage systems. The research project takes place in the interdisciplinary and international framework of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) doctoral network, involving an industrial partner. Thus, this position requires a high level of commitment and communication. The project combines inorganic chemistry methods, catalysts development and sustainability questions.
**Your future tasks**:
You actively participate in research, & administration, which means:
The advertised position comprises participation in research and administration, i.e.:
- You will be involved in research projects and scientific studies in the field of materials chemistry
- You will be involved in publications/ academic articles/ presentations
- You are actively involved in the StoreAGE MCSA doctoral network
- You will take on administrative tasks in research
**This is part of your personality**:
- Masters/diploma degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from a university (preferably in the field of materials chemistry or equivalent qualification)
- Previous experience in Inorganic Chemistry and/or Materials science
- Fluency in English: written and oral
- Experience in data acquisition software
- Experience in Catalysis is an advantage
- IT skills: MS Office desired
- Knowledge of: solid-state and surface characterization methods (i.e., X-ray diffraction, spectroscopies)
- You are a team player with high social/communicative skills
- Interested in industrial chemistry, sustainable industrial practices and circular economy
