The post is located in the Implementation Support Section (ISS) I, Terrorism Prevention Branch (TPB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Vienna Austria. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, focal point for the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Terrorism Prevention Programme and the overall guidance of the Chief of Section (ISS I).
**Responsibilities**:
Within limits of assigned authority, the incumbent is responsible for undertaking the following specific tasks:
- Contribute to providing substantive expertise on a broad spectrum of complex substantive issues in the field of terrorism and crime prevention, law and criminal justice, especially with respect to Chemical, Biological Radiological and Nuclear terrorism.
- Participate in and provide, as requested, CBRN-related technical assistance to Member States and undertake related technical assistance missions; undertake consultations and liaison with officials of governments, including recipient countries, international organizations and funding institutions; participate in international, regional or national meetings and provide substantive expertise on specific issues, with a focus in Russian-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries
- Contribute to the Branch's activities and other initiatives in the area of nuclear, biological or chemical terrorism; participate in conferences and events related to the development of legal provisions against nuclear, biological and chemical terrorism, as requested.
- Contribute to coordinate and provide guidance to field experts on programming and delivery, including contributing to coherent and complementary programming between HQ and the field in the area of CBRN terrorism prevention.
- Contribute to develop and implement relevant CBRN-related technical assistance projects with UN entities and other international organizations.
- Contribute to the preparation of funding proposals, reports, technical briefings, background papers, briefing notes, speeches related to the prevention of CBRN terrorism.
- Contribute to the overall substantive implementation of the work programme of the Branch.
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Carry out other work-related tasks as assigned.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law is required.
Specialization in legal and related aspects of CBRN terrorism prevention is required.
A first-level university degree in law in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and directly relevant professional experience in the criminal justice aspects of terrorism prevention in the area of CBRN terrorism is required.
Of the aforementioned years, at least three years of experience at an international organization or a non-governmental organization dealing with chemical, biological, radiological and/or nuclear terrorism is required.
Work experience in programme management is desirable.
Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Fluency in Russian and Spanish is desirable.
