**Your personal sphere of influence**:
The Department of Communication of the University of Vienna, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, announces three vacant prae doc positions. As a predoctoral university assistant you will complement the research team of **Univ.Prof. Desiree Schmuck** in the research area **Media Change and Media Innovation.**

The research team focuses on the investigation of uses and effects of digital media in childhood and adolescence, political engagement in digital media environments, media change and intergroup relations and the self-determined use of media innovations such as artificial intelligence.

**Your future tasks**:
You actively participate in research, teaching and administration, which means:

- You participate in research projects and in scientific studies in the field of media change and media innovation, developing your own research interests.
- You work on a dissertation in the field of media change and media innovation and its completion.
- You participate in national and international conferences.
- You will write scientific publications.
- You will participate in the organization of conferences and symposia.
- You will independently teach courses due to extent regulations of wage agreement and participate in the supervision of students.
- You will be responsible for administrative tasks at the department, in research and teaching.

**This is part of your personality**:

- Strong interest in exploring communication science research topics theoretically and empirically
- Completed master's/diploma studies in communication science or related disciplines such as psychology, political science, or sociology
- Very good knowledge of social science qualitative and quantitative research methods, especially interviews, experiments, (automated) content analysis and surveys
- Very good knowledge of statistical data analysis and qualitative evaluation
- Didactic skills
- Good computer skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Team player with high social/communicative competence
- Flexibility and commitment

**What we offer**:
The employment duration is **4 years**. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to **4 years** if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
