Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer

This position is located in the Field Support Section (FSS), Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. The incumbent will report to the Chief of the Section and receive overall guidance of the Chief of Branch.

**Responsibilities**:
Within assigned authority, the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer (Anti-Corruption) will carry out a range of functions to support the work of the Field Support Section, the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch and their efforts to promote the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and other relevant instruments supported by UNODC. In particular, the incumbent will perform the following specific duties:

- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned proposals, programmes and projects at the global, regional and/or national levels in the area of anti-corruption, in particular in conflict, post-conflict and peace building situation.
- Monitor and analyze programme development and implementation; develop and implement actions necessary to respond to the evaluation of the Global Programme to prevent and combat corruption; generate and review relevant documents and reports, substantive and managerial; identify problems and issues to be addressed and initiate corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; ensure follow-up actions.
- Organize and prepare written inputs to policy analysis and programme reports, draft background papers, analysis, studies, and publications relevant to the work of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch.
- Provide substantive backstopping to intergovernmental and other meetings and conferences, proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparing documents and delivering presentations.
- Design and conduct training workshops and seminars; make presentations on assigned topics/activities.
- Cooperate and coordinate with field offices and other relevant entities on matters pertaining to anti-corruption.
- Lead and participate in large, complex field missions, including provision of guidance to consultants, government officials, and other parties, and drafting mission summaries.
- Monitor and review good practices, methodologies and programmes in the area of anti-corruption.
- Support the establishment and development of independent national anti-corruption agencies, including development of their mandate, structure and operational practices. Provide advisory services and technical expertise to specialized anti-corruption bodies and units on preventing, detecting, investigating and prosecuting cases of corruption and related offences.
- Foster contacts and, where appropriate, co-operation and partnerships with bodies and institutions at national, regional and international levels tasked with the prevention of and fight against corruption. Work with government counterparts and other stakeholders to strengthen capacity to address corruption related to other UNODC mandate areas.
- Support the development, adjustment and monitoring of programme workplans and the overall coordination and monitoring of the implementation of programme activities.
- Coordinate activities related to budget and funding; supervise expenditures and utilization of funds related to the programme; ensure compliance with United Nations financial rules and regulations and initiate programme and/or budget revisions.
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting;
- Perform other work-related duties as may be required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, international law, criminal law, social sciences or a related field is required.
