Your Responsibilities

The Schanda group uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, which they combine with a host of other biophysical, biochemical, in-silico and in-vivo methods. The group spans activities from nuclear spin dynamics and biophysics to challenging biological problems. We are looking for an experienced and well-organized team member for protein production, purification and laboratory management:
Implementing and optimizing new protein production protocols
Documentation and setup of protocols
Producing protein samples (E. coli; cell-free; possibly yeast) for other group members, including isotope-labeled samples ( 2 H, 13 C, 15 N, 19 F)
Training and support of PhD students and postdocs
Managing stocks, ordering consumables and keeping our data base up to date (consumables, produced proteins, protocols)
Reporting on performed tasks (e.g. group seminars)

Your Profile

Proven practical experience ( > 3 years) in protein production and purification, using E. coli-based and cell-free production, including development of new protocols
Experience in characterizing proteins with biophysical and biochemical techniques, i.e., interpreting data from techniques as SEC-MALS, MS, ITC, and ideally experience in performing these techniques
Experience with yeast, insect or mammalian cell cultures and/or cell-free protein production is a plus
Experience in lab management
Completed studies in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or other relevant fields
Strong organizational skills allowing to handle multiple tasks in parallel
Clear and efficient communication and reporting
