The Institute for the International Education of Students, or IES Abroad, is a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating study abroad experiences for U.S. college students. Established in 1950, IES Abroad has expanded its offerings across various continents, now providing over 125 programs in 19 countries and 33 cities. With a legacy of more than 115,000 students having participated in its programs, IES Abroad continues to be a leader in international education.
Position Overview
The Academic Program Coordinator for our Study Abroad Program is crucial in ensuring the effective delivery of our academic services at the Vienna Center. This role encompasses the management of over 80 course offerings for more than 250 students each semester, supported by a diverse group of over 70 adjunct faculty members. The position involves a blend of administrative responsibilities, communication tasks, and student support functions, all aimed at fostering a cohesive educational environment for both students and faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Faculty Communication and Support:
- Serve as the main point of contact for faculty inquiries and facilitate communication between faculty and the academic team.
- Assist in the management of academic processes, including scheduling classes, organizing excursions, and coordinating faculty meetings.
- Disseminate essential information and academic policies to faculty on behalf of the academic team.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new faculty and conduct orientation sessions to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles.
- Student Support:
- Provide ongoing academic advising to students throughout the semester.
- Assist students in understanding academic requirements and making informed course selections.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or higher.
- Fluency in English and German.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience, ideally in an academic or administrative context.
Requirements:
- A valid work permit for Austria.
- Flexibility to work additional hours and weekends as needed.
