Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Head of Digital CMC Transformation and Sustainability Lead to join our team at Takeda. In this role, you will lead the strategic integration of sustainability and digital innovation within the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) function.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for championing our "In Silico first" approach, ensuring sustainability is embedded across all CMC activities, from research through to commercial manufacturing. This includes driving the adoption of cutting-edge digital technologies and sustainable methodologies across the CMC function.

As the Head of Digital CMC Transformation and Sustainability Lead, your primary objective will be to optimize research, development, and manufacturing processes, reducing time, costs, and environmental impact. You will oversee a diverse, interdisciplinary team that combines expertise in science, engineering, and digital technologies.

This team will work collaboratively to pioneer new sustainable practices within CMC, ensuring that these innovations are seamlessly integrated into Takeda's global operations. Your leadership will be critical in nurturing a culture of innovation and sustainability, where team members are encouraged to experiment, share ideas, and contribute to Takeda's sustainability goals.

In addition, you will be responsible for cultivating strong collaborations both within and outside the organization. This includes working closely with other departments, such as Research & Development (R&D), Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS), and Quality (GQ), to ensure that sustainability initiatives are aligned with broader corporate objectives.

Externally, you will establish and maintain relationships with industry partners, regulatory bodies, and sustainability-focused organizations to stay ahead of industry trends and incorporate best practices into Takeda's operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the adoption of cutting-edge digital technologies and sustainable methodologies across the CMC function.
  • Optimize research, development, and manufacturing processes, reducing time, costs, and environmental impact.
  • Cultivate strong collaborations within and outside the organization to ensure sustainability initiatives are aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry partners, regulatory bodies, and sustainability-focused organizations.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience with substantial experience in digital transformation and sustainability in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • A proven track record in leading digital CMC initiatives, advanced modeling, and sustainability projects.
  • Strong scientific leadership, talent development, and strategic planning skills.
  • The ability to influence internal teams and the broader industry.
What We Offer:

At Takeda, we offer a competitive salary of €120,000 - €150,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
