Job Title: Green Hydrogen Alkaline Electrolyzer Engineer

We are now expanding our electrolysis market presence to drive growth over the next years. Our technology roadmap focuses on alkaline (AEL) and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis solutions.

About the Role

This role reports directly to the Global Director Technology Green Hydrogen in our management structure. We are seeking a highly skilled Green Hydrogen Alkaline Electrolyzer Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team at our headquarters in Vienna.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the technology development of the alkaline electrolyser system
  • Support the strengthening of the development area for alkaline electrolysis systems within the ANDRITZ Green Hydrogen technology team
  • Develop and execute testing procedures for systems and stacks to verify design, calibrate simulation models, and optimize performance
  • Focus on improving and optimizing electrolyzer technology regarding performance, lifetime, maintenance, and cost
  • Coordinate external and internal R&D activities for technology development and testing
  • Utilize requirement management and verification to ensure product and market requirements are met
  • Develop new R&D relationships and strengthen current partnerships with suppliers to collaborate on electrolyzer development topics
  • Drive continuous improvement of the development methodology
  • Collaborate with the Technology Director and contribute to the company's IP strategy regarding product positioning and serve as an alkaline technology expert for our scientific and industrial partner network
Requirements
  • Master of Science degree or PhD in physics, process engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, or similar
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in alkaline electrolyser development
  • Ability to analyze scientific literature, lead thinking on IP strategy, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive personality with the ability to anticipate and adapt work plans based on development constraints
  • Skills in managing budgets, schedules, and R&D teams
  • Practical experience in electrolyzer testing, ideally in alkaline stacks
  • Fluent in English, with experience working in international teams
  • Customer-focused open personality with ownership for performance and shared commitment
  • Good PC skills (Microsoft 365, CRM)
  • Willingness to travel internationally and excitement to work with people from different cultures

In Austria, we are legally obliged to announce a minimum gross monthly salary of €78. Depending on qualifications and professional experience, we offer a market-based salary.
