The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) was established under the National Health Reform Act 2011 to improve health outcomes for all Australians.
Since 2011, it has enabled the implementation of national activity-based funding of public hospital services through the annual determination of the national efficient price (NEP) and national efficient cost (NEC).
With effect from 12 August 2022, IHACPA's role has expanded to include the provision of advice to the Australian government on costing and pricing of aged care services as well as advice on health and aged care matters.
IHACPA's vision is to design pricing systems that promote safe, efficient health and aged care for all Australians.
The key duties of the position include: Managing administrative tasks to support secretariat service delivery for IHACPA's statutory bodies.
Supporting the management of travel, accommodation arrangements and other meeting logistics.
Providing administrative support to ministerial and parliamentary processes and requests.
Identifying and implementing improved work practices for management of correspondence, documents, collation of material, data entry and maintenance of records.
Managing committee and working group contact lists as well as membership details, as required.
Providing general communication work including management of stakeholder distribution lists.
Assisting in the management of multiple relationships with key stakeholders including jurisdictional representatives, industry groups and other agencies.
Contributing to the management of the IHACPA committee meeting calendar to ensure operational efficiencies are achieved.
Monitoring the progress of projects that may arise in Secretariat and assisting in the construction of project plans.
Contributing to the development and implementation of secretariat policy and procedures.
Assisting in the coordination of classification system documentation and processes.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with team members.
Minimum Requirements: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care, applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made.
An applicant's suitability for employment with Health and Aged Care will also be assessed through a variety of pre-employment check processes, such as: Satisfactory completion of a criminal history check, and where relevant, a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.
Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical (where required).
Providing evidence of qualifications (where required).
Obtaining and maintaining a security clearance at the required level.

This recruitment process is being used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions.
Non-ongoing positions will be offered on a specified term basis for an initial period of up to 12 months with the possibility of being extended (this will not exceed a total of 24 months in the same or similar role).

Getting to know the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) was established under the National Health Reform Act 2011 (NHR Act) (Cwlth) to improve health outcomes for all Australians.
Its primary responsibility has been to enable the implementation of national activity-based funding of public hospital services through the annual determination of the national efficient price and national efficient cost.
These determinations play a crucial role in calculating the Commonwealth funding contribution to Australian public hospital services, and offer a benchmark for the efficient cost of providing those services as outlined in the National Health Reform Agreement.
On 12 August 2022 amendments to the NHR Act came into effect changing IHPA's name to the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) and expanding its role to include the provision of costing and pricing advice on aged care to the Commonwealth Government.
