Australian Securities and Investments Commission Chief Information Security Officer Opportunity to be instrumental in shaping the Cyber Security landscape at ASIC Lead a high performing & collaborative Cyber Security team Flexible and hybrid working conditions Full-time fixed term position (three years) – All locations considered The key duties of the position include: As the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will develop and execute a robust cyber strategy, manage cyber risk appetite, and ensure operational stability.
This role is critical in achieving breach-free regulatory outcomes, maintaining trust in business continuity during cyber scenarios, and building resilience through the integration of advanced cyber capabilities and innovative solutions.
The CISO will be instrumental in shaping the cybersecurity landscape of ASIC and ensuring that our systems and data are protected against emerging threats.
The CISO also promotes security awareness and training across the organisation, ensuring that all employees understand their role in maintaining security and protecting sensitive information.
You will be accountable for overseeing the cyber security professional teams who are responsible for:
Developing and implementing a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that aligns with ASIC's strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Implementing and reporting on cyber security metrics and managing risk exposure: establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and measuring the effectiveness of cybersecurity within ASIC.
The Cyber Security Operations Centre to detect, analyse, respond to, report on, and prevent cybersecurity incidents.
Cyber assurance and governance: including fostering a culture of security awareness.
Providing expert advice and guidance on cybersecurity best practices and processes across the organisation.
To be successful in this challenging and rewarding position, you will have extensive senior leadership experience and a proven track record in building cyber security resilience capability across a large, high profile, complex environment in the public and/or private sector.
The anticipated expertise would include the capability, experience, and resilience to lead, support and influence high performing cross-functional teams in a dynamic, complex, changing environment.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are essential, along with exceptional attention to detail.
You will have demonstrated your expertise by advising and collaborating effectively with senior leadership, including Board members or public sector equivalent, C-suite executives, and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication and presentation skills would be expected, along with the ability to distil complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences and influence decision-making.
