Area Manager position has opened for a national steel business in the construction market. Fulltime - competitive package. Melbourne metro areaCompany Overview:Our client is a national leader in the steel industry, generating approximately $800 million in annual revenue. They are a trusted partner in Australian construction, focusing on safe, customer-centered, and sustainable solutions.Role Purpose:The Commercial Manager is responsible for driving regional success through sales performance, safe operations, and high-quality customer service, focusing on targets across People, Market, Assets, and Financials (PMAFs).Key Responsibilities:Promote a safe culture, achieve "Goal Zero" incidents, and ensure compliance with safety policies.Maintain strong customer relationships, provide technical support, and conduct regular site visits to ensure service quality.Drive revenue through efficient cost management and budget adherence, achieving EBITDA targets.Lead and coach the sales team to meet KPIs, grow the customer base, and oversee pricing strategy.Build a high-performing, engaged team, providing direction, support, and performance management.Skills and Experience:3-5 years in a management role within manufacturing or distribution.Strong background in a made-to-order manufacturing setting.Leadership experience with a proven record of driving change and operational results.In-depth knowledge of the steel industry, including markets and trends.Proficient in people management, safety engagement, and communication.Qualifications:Relevant tertiary qualification (business, management, engineering) or equivalent experience.5+ years in Business Development Management or related roles.Experience with CRM tools and pipeline management preferred.Preferred Skills:Knowledge of building practices and construction drawings.Proficient in MS Office and order processing systems.Strong networking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.If this role is of interest to you, I would love to hear from you.
