Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Health Worker Men's Business (Identified) Would you like to join the Metro North Health team and contribute towards achieving health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people?
Permanent full time opportunity to provide expert knowledge and support specific to Men's Business and health related issues for incarcerated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at Woodford Correctional Centre and support the general function of the unit.
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
About the role
Provide expert knowledge and support specific to Men's Business and health related issues for incarcerated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at Woodford Correctional Centre, through role modelling and application of the principles of contemporary evidence-based consumer/person focused care, education, leadership and portfolio management.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
High level knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols and history, as well as demonstrated experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Demonstrated knowledge of health inequalities and health issues faced by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, including social determinants that impact health outcomes.
Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills in the provision of client care and advocacy, including working collaboratively and in partnership with health service providers and other health professionals.
Health Equity
It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS).
