General Manager / Construction & Maintenance ServicesOur client is a family run and well-established organization that provides a full range of fire protection equipment and services as well as installations and new construction. They are currently adding a new appointed General Manager's role to the team based out in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne.Your role as GM involves a range of critical responsibilities, including:Strategic Planning:Developing operational plans that align with the company's mission and objectives.Establishing goals to drive growth and achieve long-term success.Operational Management:Managing day-to-day operations to ensure smooth workflow.Optimizing internal processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.Ensuring timely and successful delivery of projects and tasks.Leading, training, and mentoring staff to improve performance.Delegating roles and responsibilities effectively.Tracking and assessing team performance to meet business objectives.Monitoring financial performance to ensure profitability.Developing and justifying department-specific budgets.Allocating resources efficiently while maintaining budgetary control.Stakeholder Relationships:Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.Forging partnerships with internal and external entities to drive business growth.Compliance and Ethics:Ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and administrative guidelines.Upholding the company's ethical standards.Problem-Solving:Resolving conflicts through mediation and negotiation.Addressing and overcoming operational challenges.Core ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership:Develop and implement strategies to achieve organizational goals.Monitor market trends to identify opportunities and challenges.Operational Supervision:Oversee daily operations, including IT, Marketing, Sales, and Finance.Lead production activities to meet objectives, optimize workflows, and enhance safety.Manage budgets and forecasts with a focus on cost reduction and operational improvements.Analyze performance data to make informed business decisions.Quality Assurance:Enforce organizational standards to maintain service quality.Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.Relationship Building:Cultivate relationships with key industry players, vendors, and customers to uncover new business opportunities.Workforce Development:Train, motivate, and evaluate employee performance.Address workforce issues and foster a collaborative work environment.What we're looking for:Experience in a similar position, managing budgets and forecasts within a service organization.Experience in construction or maintenance sectors advantageous but not essential.Excellence and experience in being able to reduce company costs without compromising service and quality.Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong commercial acumen.Experience dealing with multiple stakeholders of the business.This comprehensive role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure the organization achieves its mission while maintaining operational excellence.
