Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is dedicated to delivering top-quality healthcare to western Sydney.
The Therapy for Kids & Families (TKF) team provides specialised mental health support for children under 12, addressing complex emotional and behavioural issues within family contexts.
What you'll be doing
The Senior Paediatric Mental Health Clinician role is part of a multidisciplinary team, focused on supporting children and families facing complex mental health challenges through direct interventions, collaboration, and advocacy.
Deliver family-focused mental health interventions through evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Collaborate with children, families, and stakeholders, offering advocacy, education, and skills training.
Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated, specialist care across services.
Support clinical supervision and skill development for team members and students.
Lead quality improvement, research, and partnerships to enhance mental health services.
Provide therapeutic and psychiatric interventions for children and families.
Collaborate with families and key stakeholders to develop treatment plans.
Support team members with clinical expertise and supervision.
Lead quality improvement and clinical research initiatives.
Foster partnerships with government and community services for integrated care.

Qualifications: Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy.
Registration: Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology.
Full registration with AHPRA as a Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - eligibility to be a member of the AASW.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience in working therapeutically with children and families who present with significant emotional, behavioural, and/or mental health difficulties.
Demonstrated evidence-based skills in the assessment and treatment of children and their families presenting with complex mental health issues in a developmental framework.
Demonstrated skills and experience in working with families who are at risk due to issues such as substance abuse, mental illness, child protection and domestic violence.
Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and ability to build therapeutic relationships.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with other service providers to achieve optimal outcomes for children and families.
Current NSW driver license and willingness to use for work purposes.
