Whittlesea Community Connections – Mernda VIC Mernda Repair Café is the first community Repair Program for the community of Whittlesea hosted at the Mernda Community House and outdoor community space. It is a free, inclusive and cross cultural community event that offers repairs of personal items by volunteer Repairers. Join the Team: Be an Eco Warrior - help the community to reduce waste going to landfill. To assist with the repair of shoes that a community member has brought to the event. To share your knowledge of basic shoe repairs. VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES Assessing if the shoe is repairable or not, during the event time. To repair shoe to a working order, if possible. Maintain repair café machinery and tools to a working order. Repairers are welcomed to bring in their own tools and materials. Setup and pack down the work space at events. Notify any issues with tools, low stock of the mending kit or interpersonal issues at the event. Category Community Services Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work Trades & Maintenance Time Required Events will run once a month on Saturdays from 10am 2pm. Volunteers will be required to either come earlier to setup at 9.30am.
