Account Manager – Metcash Location: Hoppers Crossing, Victoria, Australia. Metcash, Australia's leading wholesale distribution company, hires an Account Manager for its Food team to manage independent retail accounts, drive sustainable growth, and deliver commercial outcomes. Responsibilities Own and manage a defined portfolio of customer accounts Lead customer relationships and act as the first point of contact Develop and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) aligned to customer and Metcash strategies Drive commercial outcomes including profitability, merchandising, and campaign execution Provide advisory support across store operations (e.g., P&L, labour, replenishment) Ensure compliance with legislation, Grocery Code of Conduct, and Channel Standards Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver initiatives and operational excellence Support execution of programs and initiatives across the retailer network Attend and contribute to seasonal events such as Expo and Easter Qualifications Proven experience in account management, business development, or sales Experience working with multi‑site or franchise retailers Strong commercial acumen and understanding of margin, pricing, and profitability Knowledge of retail operations and store economics (e.g., CODB, compliance) Strategic relationship management and influencing skills Ability to translate insights into actionable strategies Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills A collaborative, proactive, and customer‑focused mindset What We Offer Extra leave: 5th week of annual leave, 2 well‑being days, and 1 volunteer day annually Career growth: Endless learning and development opportunities Parental leave: 12 weeks of gender‑neutral paid leave for primary carers Inclusive culture: Bronze Employer for LGBTQ Inclusion Neutral pay gap: Gender pay gap under 5% (WGEA 2024–2025) Mental health: Gold accreditation by Mental Health Australia Flexibility: Flex Ready and Family Friendly Workplace accredited About Metcash Metcash is Australia’s leading wholesale distribution company with $19.5 billion in sales (FY25) and a proud spot in the ASX Top 125.
