Tasmanian Oyster Co (TOC for short) is committed to being the leader in sustainable oyster production, striving for best practice and continuous improvement in the management of the environment in which we operate. We’re now looking for a People & Safety Manager to join our small but dedicated team, supporting every part of our business – from hatchery to harvest, from people to process. The Role This role is about supporting those people and ensuring they have the systems, processes and culture to do their best work safely. As our People & Safety Manager, you’ll look after all aspects of people, safety and compliance – from HR and workforce planning to WHS, injury management, and policy governance. You’ll be a trusted advisor to managers and the CEO, providing clear, practical guidance while also rolling up your sleeves to get things done. You’ll oversee the small People & Safety team, and work closely with operational leaders to strengthen accountability, build capability, and continue to evolve our culture of safety, respect and performance. This is a genuinely varied, hands‑on role where you’ll have impact and visibility across the business. No two days will be the same. About You You’ll have experience working across both HR and Safety, and a practical understanding of what it takes to support people in a busy, operational environment. You’re confident advising managers, you can get into the detail when needed, and you know how to balance compliance with common sense. You’ll Bring Experience in a similar role spanning people and safety (marine or aquaculture experience highly regarded) Strong working knowledge of WHS and employment legislation The ability to build rapport and influence across all levels of the business A proactive, organised approach and a passion for getting things done the right way A current driver’s licence and flexibility to travel to sites across Tasmania and South Australia Play a key role in a respected aquaculture business Office in Bellerive with easy access to free parking Genuine variety across people, safety and compliance Collaborative team and approachable leadership To find out more about us and the values that guide our business, visit a copy of the position description, email or for a confidential discussion, contact Sarah Bridges on Applications close 9am Thursday 4th December, but don’t delay – we’ll review applications as we receive them.
