Position Summary This position is based in Capella Sydney and reports to the Director of Human Resources. You will coordinate and organise a range of development activities that contribute to the attainment of the Company’s performance standards and Hotel Goals. You will be responsible for conducting a systematic analysis of the hotel’s training needs and delivering a relevant learning plan. The Learning & Development Manager acts as an internal consultant on department‑related training matters, sources and maintains a current knowledge of statutory requirements and develops creative and innovative training programmes. The Role Assist in identifying key drivers of colleague satisfaction and support leaders in implementing development plans to enhance performance and engagement. Facilitate hotel orientation programmes and other training sessions as required, ensuring all new and existing colleagues receive the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively. Coordinate with departments and HR colleagues to develop and deliver learning and development initiatives that support business goals, succession planning, and career growth. Assist in the implementation of Human Resources strategies and initiatives to uphold Capella’s brand standards and operational objectives. Support the growth and performance of individuals through coaching, certification programmes, and structured training pathways. Ensure all training documentation, manuals, and certification processes are current, accurate, and aligned with operational needs. Partner with business units to monitor training effectiveness, performance outcomes, and continuous improvement of learning programmes. Foster a culture of excellence through recognition, empowerment, and the demonstration of Capella’s service philosophy. Ensure compliance with all local legislation, upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and fairness in all practices. Talent Profile Tertiary education in Hospitality or Human Resources. Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role at luxury hotels/resorts. Hotel operational experience is preferred. Highly organised with excellent people skills. Passionate about the hotel and hospitality industry. Must have valid existing work rights in Australia.
