Multicultural - Diversity and Inclusion Officer- Full Time Contract until 2028 The Multicultural Diversity & Inclusion Officer plays a pivotal role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across programs and initiatives. Reporting directly to the Manager - Diversity & Inclusion, this position is responsible for driving strategies that enhance participation and representation of people from multicultural and underrepresented communities. Working closely with associations, community groups, and key stakeholders, the role ensures programs are culturally appropriate, accessible, and impactful. The Officer will lead the development of the Multicultural Action Plan, coordinate funded programs, and create resources and training that foster welcoming and culturally safe environments. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by building inclusive opportunities and strengthening community engagement. This is a full-time, fixed-term position linked to funding, until December 2028. Vision: Everybody’s Game Basketball Victoria (BV) is the peak body for the sport of Basketball in Victoria. The broad objectives of BV are to provide for the advancement, encouragement, conduct, promotion and administration of Basketball in Victoria. We are a member driven governing body, providing a range of services, leagues and competitions for over 140 affiliated associations. In addition to supporting our affiliated Basketball associations, BV delivers a number of participation programs making basketball Everybody’s Game, as well as player, coach and technical official development programs to encourage the development of socially desirable attitudes and values towards physical fitness, skill acquisition and performance pathways. About you You are passionate about multicultural inclusion, equity, and equity, with a strong commitment to creating welcoming and culturally safe environments. You bring experience working with multicultural communities, associations, or community groups, and have a proven ability to develop and implement programs that enhance participation and representation. You are an effective communicator and collaborator, able to build strong relationships with stakeholders and inspire others to embrace inclusive practices. With excellent project management skills, you can coordinate funded programs, develop actionable plans, and create practical resources and training that make a real impact. You are proactive, culturally aware, and driven to make a meaningful difference in strengthening community engagement and fostering inclusive opportunities for all, making basketball truly everybody’s game. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the 2026–2028 Multicultural Action Plan. Coordinate funded programs that drive community impact and participation to meet stakeholder expectations. Work with associations to deliver culturally appropriate basketball programs tailored to community needs. Build partnerships with community groups, sporting organisations, and government agencies. Create resources and training to support inclusive practices across the basketball workforce. Identify grant opportunities and assist associations with applications. Review and evaluate programs, making recommendations for improvement. What We’re Looking For Essential Tertiary qualifications in community development, social work, education, sport management, or equivalent experience. Strong understanding and connection to multicultural communities and their needs. Lived experience and cultural competency, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse communities. Experience in community engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, or sport development. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively. Passion for sport, particularly basketball, as a tool for community connection and wellbeing. You must also hold a current driver’s licence. A current working with children check. Desirable Experience in a sporting organisation, peak body, or not-for-profit setting. Previous experience engaging and supporting volunteers. Strong project management and program evaluation skills. Current First Aid qualification.
