Our client is seeking a motivated and highly organised Finance Officer / Manager to join their Canberra‑based construction business on a part‑time basis (24 hours / week). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing core finance responsibilities with project‑oriented support in a dynamic construction environment. Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations Prepare monthly financial reports, budgets and forecasts to support projects Utilise Xero accounting software to maintain accurate financial records and repo Key Responsibilities Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger using Xero. Prepare monthly management reports, budgets, and financial forecasts to support project delivery and business decisions. Work with project teams to monitor project costs, commitments, variations, and revenue recognition. Assist in system improvements, financial process enhancements, and ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements. Liaise with external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, banks), maintain financial records, and ensure accurate documentation. Provide strategic financial support to senior leadership, highlighting financial risks, opportunities, and performance metrics. About You Proven experience (3+ years) in a finance or accounting role, preferably in construction or project‑based environment. Strong experience with Xero accounting software is essential. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise in a fast‑moving setting. Strong communicator with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders. Reliable, proactive, and capable of working independently within a smaller team environment. Why Apply?
