About the role We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Designer – Womenswear to join our team. As the Technical Designer, your primary responsibility is to establish fit for purpose criteria for all products, drive clear consistent best‑in‑class technical execution, drive sales and profitability, and support Target values. What will you do? Accountable for fit for purpose, elevation of quality and maintaining safety of all products in the relevant Buying Group. Own and manage Brands/Product categories/Departments. Work in collaboration with the design and buying teams to deliver innovative and commercial products on time in adherence with the Critical Path. Create accurate initial Tech packs including measurements, grading, labels and packaging, images, protocols, mandatory/safety requirements, construction and performance in conjunction with Design for development and help maintain Tech packs at every stage. Manage and conduct product fit/review sessions, measuring/review products with clear and accurate commenting on specs/manufacturing finishes to Design and suppliers on all sample stages as required. Accurately maintain fit criteria and consistency across product types and Business Group Brands. Responsible for the management of block library and standards for the respective department. Clear and organised daily communication with all stakeholders including TSSO, TAS, local suppliers, vendors, and sourcing agents. Follow up and drive resolution process of all production issues including inspection failures. Follow up and drive resolution of high priority customer related issues specific to the department. Ensure local suppliers comply with testing requirements in line with the product critical path timeline. Inspection and quality control assessment development, production and shipment samples. Conduct regular store visits for product fit, compliance and quality review assessments. Ensure that all Target sustainability policies pertaining to their products are maintained. Inspire and embed a culture of safety and elevated quality first at Target. Drive a one‑team culture between TSSO and TAS technical teams. Support Target Asia in developing vendors to have rigorous processes in place to deliver goods on‑time, to Target standards. What are we looking for? The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Design or Technical Design, with at least 4+ years’ experience in Technical Design, Surface Pattern, Illustration Design or a similar field in a specialty retail environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong business activity and process knowledge, tactical decision‑making ability and experience in operational & process management and risk management. Experience working with offshore manufacturing is also required. Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge Minimum 5 years’ Technical Design experience. Tertiary qualification in Design or Technical Design. Pattern making and experience with tech/spec packs, grading and product construction. Experience with product fitting and feedback. Strong business activity and process knowledge. Demonstrated ability to make tactical decisions. Experience in operational & process management. Risk management experience.
