At Biodiversity Australia , a fast-growing, Indigenous-owned environmental consultancy, we’re looking for a People & Performance Manager to help us build strong teams, strengthen culture, and support our business as it continues to grow. This isn’t about “big corporate HR.” It’s about rolling up your sleeves, working closely with managers, and creating simple, practical people solutions that drive performance and make a real difference in partnership with our business and people leaders. What you’ll do Partner with leaders to design and deliver people strategies that support our growth. Guide and coach managers through employee relations matters with empathy and fairness. Shape and maintain HR policies, keeping processes compliant, consistent and people focused. Support implementation of HR and talent systems to make processes easier and more efficient. Drive initiatives to attract, retain and develop great people across the business. Support a positive workplace culture – from onboarding to training and leadership development. Use data and insights to help make smart, proactive people decisions. Who you are A strong communicator who builds trust easily with managers and employees. Commercially minded and pragmatic – able to balance people needs with business goals. Confident in handling employee relations, with a good knowledge of Australian employment law. Experienced in recruitment, onboarding and culture initiatives. Resilient, hands-on and comfortable in a fast-growing, evolving environment. Excited by the chance to grow with the business and make your mark. What you bring 7+ years’ experience in HR/People roles, including at least 2 in a strategic or advisory capacity within a high-growth or dynamic business Developing talent strategies and implementing HR systems. Proven experience supporting managers across the full employee lifecycle. Experience mentoring managers and handling complex employee relations with clarity and fairness. Proven success in implementing or improving HR systems and processes. Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and best-practice HR frameworks. A track record of building culture, driving innovative attraction, retention, and development initiatives. At Biodiversity Australia , your work matters.
