About The Role Operating within the National School of Philosophy, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (History of Ethics) will provide high quality teaching in the school’s philosophy program, undertake quality research and publication in their area of philosophical expertise, and engage in external and internal service. Responsibilities Contribute to curriculum development of undergraduate and/or postgraduate units in the School of Philosophy in a variety of modes ranging from face‑to‑face classes to synchronous and asynchronous online delivery. Teach across aspects of philosophical ethics with a historical perspective, and related areas of philosophical ethics and the history of philosophy, at least to an undergraduate level. Contribute to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree (including PhD) students in areas of philosophical expertise. Conduct high‑quality research and publish in the history of ethics with highly‑ranked international journals and book publishers, and pursue external funding for research projects. Undertake coursework administration and other school‑based service efficiently and collegially. Engage in community and stakeholder engagement initiatives, as appropriate. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of the University’s Catholic Identity and Mission and to contribute to the integration of principles of social justice, the pursuit of truth and care for the common good in all areas of academic activity relevant to the Teaching and Research Academic Pathway. Total remuneration valued to $142,635 - $168,287 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $120,529 - $142,305 (pro rata) pa (Lecturer - Academic Level B); and $178,482 - $193,772 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $151,018 - $164,087 (pro rata) pa (Senior Lecturer – Academic Level C). 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed‑term staff. Annual leave loading equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks’ salary pro rata payable, depending on commencement date.
