Legal Counsel – Maternity Leave Cover (7 Months) We are currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel for our client, a respected education-focused organisation based in the Sydney CBD. This is a 7 month maternity leave cover offering a competitive salary of $186,991 + super + salary packaging, and a flexible hybrid work arrangement (3 days in-office, 2 days WFH). Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality legal advice across employment, commercial, education, and family law. Mentor and support lawyers and paralegals, acting as the go-to for leadership and relationship management. Draft and negotiate a wide range of legal documents including contracts, deeds, and service agreements. Liaise with internal stakeholders across a diverse range of legal matters. Represent the organisation in dispute resolution, including courts and tribunals. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage legal risk. Occasionally travel to schools across the Sydney metropolitan area (infrequent). Ideal Candidate Minimum 6 years post-admission experience in law. Strong background in employment and commercial law; experience in education and family law is highly desirable. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small in-house legal team. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience. High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities. A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to commencement.
