Victorian Temporary Fencing – Thomastown VIC The Assistant Yard Manager at Victorian Temporary Fencing (VTF) is responsible for assisting the Yard Manager and overseeing all aspects of the yard operations, including the management of personnel, equipment, and inventory. The Assistant Yard Manager's core duty is to open the Factory, load and unload trucks starting from 6am - 3:00pm Monday to Friday. The Assistant Yard Manager role is to support the Yard Manager and ensure that the yard runs efficiently and safely, maintaining high standards of productivity, quality, and customer service. The Assistant Yard Manager is required to always drive the standards of the team and lead by example. The Yard Manager MUST HAVE: Valid Forklift Licence (high level of competency on the forklift) Valid Drivers Licence Ability to fork load trucks with fence panels, blocks, ply boards, rails and steel posts TO APPLY: Email CV to Dave Nicholls, General Manager @ VTF: ****@vtfhire.com.au or call *** Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Load and unload trucks as per job sheets. Plan proactively to reduce the reactive nature of the role. Supervise yard operations, including receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials and equipment. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Manage maintenance and repair of yard equipment and vehicles. Coordinate with the logistics team to optimize delivery schedules and routes. Staff Management: Lead, train, and develop yard staff for high performance and engagement. Schedule and allocate tasks efficiently. Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock checks. Ensure proper storage and handling of materials. Manage stock ordering and replenishment. Health and Safety: Implement and enforce health and safety policies. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments, addressing hazards promptly. Train staff on safe work practices and PPE usage. Customer Service: Ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment. Handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively. Collaborate with sales and Head of Operations to understand customer needs. Continuous Improvement: Monitor KPIs and report yard performance to senior management. Qualifications and Skills: Mandatory Forklift Driver's Licence; HR Vehicle Licence preferred. Experience in yard or warehouse management, preferably in construction or fencing. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer skills. Ability to operate yard equipment and machinery. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Working Conditions: Outdoor work in various weather conditions. Lifting heavy materials and operating machinery required.
