Aboriginal Health Practitioner - Women’s Reproductive Health Employment Type : Permanent Full Time / Job Share Considered Position Classification : Aboriginal Health Practitioner Remuneration : $72,186.40 - $93,971.28 pa (+ superannuation + salary packaging options) Location : Negotiable, NSW – Find out more Hours Per Week : 38 Applications Close : 8 December 2025 – 11:59pm About The Role Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) is strengthening its model of care dedicated to women's health rights and self‑determination. Our mission is to ensure all women in our district have access to the care that they seek, providing central point of contact for a comprehensive wrap‑around service. Our goal is for consistent care, no matter the location and we are the first LHD across the state to implement such a service. We are currently building a team of passionate and motivated clinicians, technicians and support staff who share our mission to provide choice and improved health outcomes for the women of Western NSW. The Aboriginal Health Practitioner role is suited to a clinician who wants to make a real difference to the access to care and support for Aboriginal women in WNSWLHD exploring or exercising their right to self‑determined care. You will have a history or proven passion within the sexual/reproductive health space and preferably some experience working in community. The role has a prominent primary care focus, with both weekly clinics and outreach services to different sites. As a complete wrap‑around service, you will develop strategies to meet the physical, emotional, cultural, social and environmental needs of our Aboriginal clients, facilitating appropriate supports and providing individual and community education. This role reports into the Child, Youth and Family Division part of a tight team who collaborates well together. Your colleagues will include a clinical nurse specialist, midwife, social workers, pharmacy technician and administration support. It is predominantly a Monday to Friday role, with regular hours and no shiftwork. Rolling out a new model of care, you will be given a great deal of autonomy to ensure care that is culturally appropriate and delivered through a holistic lens. You will also provide mentoring support and cultural guidance to other team members to promote awareness and sensitivity to the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As the first LHD to implement this approach to care delivery you will need to be very well organised – keeping excellent records and high quality data to prove the service success. The role also requires some flexibility with clinicians transitioning into other related patient service within the divisions if projected service usage is not met. This is an excellent opportunity to improve the care available to the women of Western NSW. Go on – challenge yourself. Make an impact. Shape the future of rural health.
