Burnie City Council is looking for an Asset Officer who can help us manage the city’s assets with accuracy, insight and a focus on long‑term community benefit. This is a great opportunity to bring your technical, analytical and GIS skills into a hands‑on role that directly supports the planning, renewal and maintenance of Burnie’s essential infrastructure. What You Will Be Doing Develop and maintain asset management plans across all asset classes. Ensure asset data meets legislative, policy and compliance requirements. Coordinate asset‑linked processes, including maintenance schedules and statutory reporting. Capture new and renewed assets from capital works and development projects. Maintain and enhance Council’s GIS data and mapping systems. Support staff using asset and GIS tools, and provide clear, practical advice. Work collaboratively with Infrastructure, Finance and Capital Works teams. Promote continuous improvement, safety and a positive working environment. What You Will Bring Qualifications or demonstrated experience in asset management, engineering or a related field. Previous experience working with GIS and mapping software (MapInfo experience ideal). A solid understanding of legislation, policy and asset‑related reporting requirements. Strong financial and analytical skills, particularly in working with data‑heavy systems. High‑level computer skills, especially in Excel. A driver’s licence (and a White Card, or ability to obtain).
