This is a maternity leave cover through to March 2027 and we’re looking for someone experienced, pragmatic, and values‑driven who can step into a busy, supportive team and hit the ground running. At the City of Armadale, our People Services Advisors are trusted partners to leaders across every part of the organisation Waste, Libraries, IT, Engineering, Recreation, Community Services, Corporate Services and more. You’ll be the go‑to person for all things people: recruitment support, performance, wellbeing, onboarding, and everyday HR guidance that genuinely supports our people to do their best work. In this part‑time role, we’re offering real flexibility: 3 full days or spread your 22.8 hours across 5 days to suit school hours, caring responsibilities, or life in general. What You’ll Be Doing Advising leaders on day‑to‑day people matters with confidence, clarity, and care. Supporting and guiding recruitment campaigns, job design, onboarding, and internal movements. Helping leaders interpret the Industrial Agreement and City procedures. Coordinating documentation, ensuring compliance, and keeping processes moving. Partnering with your fellow Advisors, Business Partners, to deliver a seamless People Services experience. Maintaining accurate HR records, workflows, and correspondence. This is a role with variety; every day is different, and your ability to stay organised, professional and people‑centred will be your greatest strength. What You’ll Bring YOU’re either a strong, experienced recruiter who’s ready to step into a broader HR role supporting a Business Partner, or an HR Advisor looking for a part‑time role where you can really add value. Most importantly, you bring maturity, confidence and a steady, solutions‑focused approach. Solid experience in end‑to‑end recruitment, ideally across a mix of corporate, technical and frontline roles. An interest in growing your HR generalist capability or existing experience providing advice on performance, conduct, leave, wellbeing and day‑to‑day people matters. Strong organisational skills you can prioritise, pivot between tasks, and keep things progressing without needing to be chased. Clear, professional communication and an ability to build trust quickly with leaders and employees. A calm, practical approach to people issues, balancing empathy with accountability. Confidence working with policies, procedures and industrial instruments (local government experience welcome but not essential).
