Allied Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cadet AHA The Royal Melbourne Hospital – Parkville VIC Allied Health Assistant: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cadetship Program The Royal Melbourne Hospital Fixed term position, weekend and weekday work available. 40 shifts per annum – flexible rostering around university commitments. Ability to work across City and Royal Park campuses. The Royal Melbourne Hospital Allied Health service is made up of over 700 staff providing services across the City Campus in Parkville and the Royal Park Campus. We have an exciting opportunity for students studying an Allied Health course at University and who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to apply for our Allied Health Assistant Cadetship Program. The program involves the Cadet completing 40 paid shifts in 2026, scheduled around study commitments, with the possibility of continuing beyond the cadetship in an AHA role. Cadets will be placed within the same profession as their area of study at University. Each cadet will be connected with the First Nations Health Unit to learn and understand how the Royal Melbourne Hospital provides holistic, culturally safe care for First Nations patients and their families. The First Nations Workforce Coordinator will provide ongoing cultural and professional support, including access to internal and external professional development, and wellbeing resources. Your new role: Clinical experience as an Allied Health Assistant in your area of study within identified scope of practice as determined by Allied Health Clinicians. Mentorship, cultural support, and peer learning to help you grow professionally and personally. Communicate with a range of people, including patients, families/carers, and staff from other disciplines. About you: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students currently enrolled in an Allied Health university course and having completed their first year of study. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as administrative skills. Adaptable and thrive in a dynamic multidisciplinary team environment. Passion for patient-centred care and able to follow instructions and guidance from Allied Health clinicians.
