Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Health Worker The role of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Health Worker is to collaboratively deliver culturally appropriate mental health support within their community and Hospital and Health Service catchment to address the unique social and emotional wellbeing needs arising from historical trauma, cultural disconnection and social determinants of health. For this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal person, or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act. About The Team The Child and Youth Mental Health Service has two mental health inpatient units that provide acute recovery oriented multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention for young people and their families. The units consist of an adolescent unit and a child unit each with its own multi-disciplinary team. About The Role In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include: Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver culturally appropriate care, through organising training sessions focused on cultural competence, mental health best practices and professional development. Monitors and evaluates the quality of mental health services provided, to meet established standards and guidelines. Join various committees and working groups focused on mental health service delivery and collaborate with other members to develop and implement policies and initiatives that promote culturally competent care.
