Design and Technology Teacher and Integrator International School of WA – Doubleview WA The International School of Western Australia (ISWA) is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational school for local and international students from Kindergarten to Year 12, running on a northern hemisphere calendar. The Design and Technology Teacher and Integrator works as part of a schoolwide Information Technology Team, teaches classes to students in the International Baccalaureate Middle Year Programme 7 – 10, and provides design and IT coaching for teachers, students, and parents K-12. The Design and Technology Teacher and Integrator reports to the Heads of Primary and Secondary and collaborates with Curriculum Coordinators and the Director of Technology to model and promote the effective integration of technology in the school. Coach individual teachers, identify needs, and assist teachers with design thinking and the integration of technology. Teach Digital Design in years 7 – 10, within the IB Middle Years Programme framework and based on the Western Australian curriculum. Meet regularly with teachers, curriculum coordinators or department teams to plan collaboratively, and share ideas to promote: concept-based inquiry student agency design thinking Deliver technology-related PD opportunities to faculty, including integrating technology within the curriculum, promoting student safe use and wellbeing, and leading discussions on the latest research on technology integration. Model best-practice and team-teach with creative and innovative technological solutions. Liaise with parents on the subject of technology, running parent events as appropriate. Collaborate with the Director of Technology to establish Learning, Innovation and Technology goals that align with the strategic plan. Collaborate with the Director of Technology on researching, testing and procuring appropriate technologies & tools to support the curriculum. Evaluate the efficacy and sustainability of current and future uses of educational technology across the school, including robotics, coding and design thinking. Contribute towards the spirit of Design Integration by immersing yourself in best practice. Qualities/Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Attributes) Teaching qualifications, preferably in Design, ICT or a related discipline. At least three years of experience as an Innovation, ICT or Design teacher, coach or integrationist. Flexible, positive and creative. A commitment to ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of children. A commitment to fostering student agency and advocacy skills. Highly developed collaborative coaching and mentoring skills. Exceptional communication skills. Experience with and a commitment to Design Thinking, Inquiry and Project Based Learning. Proven understanding of effective use of technology (digital curriculum, web tools, hardware, etc.) in classroom environments. Desire to work in a multicultural, open-minded, and community-minded environment. Ability to train faculty on software and hardware. Knowledge and proficiency of both text- and block-based programming languages. International School and International Baccalaureate Programme (PYP, MYP and/or DP) experience would be an advantage.
